Esta grabaci贸n de 1958 es, con toda justicia, la m谩s conocida de Smith. En ella se rode贸 de un elenco de artistas de gran altura: el trompetista Lee Morgan, los saxofonistas George Coleman y Tina Brooks, los guitarristas Kenny Burrel y Eddie McFadden y los percusionistas Art Blakey y Donald Bailey. Cualquiera de estos nombres bastar铆a para hacer interesante el disco, pero la uni贸n de todos ellos augura uno de esos raros momentos en que la genialidad se hace carne. Originalmente, el disco editado por Blue Note contaba con bastantes m谩s pistas. Esta reedici贸n remasterizada del vinilo tiene s贸lo tres temas. La pieza que abre el disco, The Sermon, dura veinte minutos de pura improvisaci贸n en la que Smith lleva la batuta y va altern谩ndose con los solos de todos los m煤sicos, todo ello bajo la direcci贸n del gran Art Blakey. Sin duda, uno de los m谩s grandes discos de la historia del jazz que nos permite escuchar un instrumento que hoy casi ha pasado a la mejor vida: el 贸rgano Hammond B-3.
