Marian McPartland was inspired by Chick Corea's first guest appearance on her Piano Jazz series when he improvised a portrait of her. She promptly improvised one of him in return and regularly improvised portraits of future guests when she was inspired to do so. This CD collects 23 of her freely improvised pieces in honor of musicians who appeared on her program (in the case of Bud Powell, his daughter Celia was Marian's guest, while Murray Horowitz was a long time NPR producer).
